Why do I need a CD player?

Last week a buddy gave me four CDs from two recent gigs he and his band
played. I came home and popped one in the CD player and was listening
30 seconds after walking through the door. It would have taken me a
minimum of 10-15 minutes per CD to rip them, then do BMF to get them
into my library in preparation to play through the Squeezebox. And
it's not music I need or want in my library. In all likelihood I'll
never listen to the shows again. And I have about 10 more discs of
their shows on CD that I also don't need in my library.

Another friend came over today to listen to music and brought a dozen
or so CDs with him. Not only would it have been a pain to first rip
any or all of them before we could listen, there's the small issue of
my having no right to keep the music in my library after he leaves the
house and takes the CDs with him.
