We have a 7 TB (not a misprint) server (always online) in the lab, and a ton of offline storage, as well. A typical experiment of mine (time-lapse digital microscopy) takes up about 30 GB (again, not a misprint) of storage. We have had many drives fail over the last couple of years. You want to know what brand accounts for 100% of the failures? It's not Seagate. I won't incriminate the guilty manufacturer.
