Well, if they sound differently, at least one of them distort the
signal (more then the other one). In SB digital path the only factor
that can do it is jitter. The real question is not which one sounds
better, but rather which one has smaller "footprint" on the original
signal. SB3 jitter on coax outs measured to be just about 100ps, so I'd
think it betters SB2, so it may be that what you perceive as brighter is
actually more natural... May be not though...
