has a ton of sample audio files demonstrating the effects of jitter, distortion, low sampling rates, etc. There's even a "trainer" for learning how to hear these effects: http://www.pcabx.com/training/index.htm It's fun to play with, but you'll need an ABX comparator program; I use foobar with the ABX plugin, or I think you can download another one from that site. I found I could distinguish the "Difficult" selections in the "Training Room" pretty easily only after listening to the more distorted samples so as to know what exactly to listen for. Playing with this also shows yet again how absolutely essential blind tests are - again and again I think I can hear a difference in the more subtle samples, and am proved wrong by that pesky ABX. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25172 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
