Actually, the most exciting feature of the Transporter's appearance for me is the dual screens. I would have preferred them to be one large screen (as someone else mentioned in a separate thread), but even with them being two discrete screens I think it's a big upgrade from the SB1/2/3. Right now I never use the largest font because it doesn't allow me to show the track progress bar as well. With two screens, one could show the current track info in the largest font, and the other could have a collection of other data like progress bar, time remaining, a clock, etc.
All of this having been said, I can't justify $2k for the Transporter at this time. But for me, that is not a statement of how good the Transporter is. For me, it's a function of the following:
1) My budget
2) The fact that the rest of my equipment is too poor to benefit from the audio enhancements afforded by the Transporter
3) My ears are far from golden
So for me, I'd be paying $2k mainly for the dual displays and nicer form factor, which I cannot justify. Most likely I'll spend money on upgrading the rest of my system, and the reevaluate my position on the Transporter.

Nope. Hate the looks and I already have a nice DAC, so I don't want to
pay a premium for two displays and a row of buttons that won't get used
and don't make it sound better. I may well go for an Olive Opus instead
- when funds permit. It has a discrete, elegant look and is more
functional. I need to hear it first though, Slim has always had the
edge on audio quality to date.
That sounds harsh I must admit, but looks are a very personal thing and
the more I look at the Transporter, the more I think "nasty 70's
receiver". Sorry guys, I know a lot of work went into it...
PS: I have noticed a slight divide here when it comes to looks, it
seems to appeal to our US friends more than Europeans, or is that a
generalisation too far?
