I currently run the Linn Numerik DAC with my SB3 into Unison Research Unico Amp and Dynaudio 220 Speakers. This combination has a lovely warm but detailed sound. Initially I thought the sound was a little soft and bloomy in the mid-range so I tried a Theta Pro Progeny someone lent to me. This cleared up the problem and introduced more accuracy and bass definition but at the expense of all the musicality. I rreturned the Theta and went back to the Linn. Oddly I have recently upgraded mny speaker cables and theis seems to have improved things again but without changing the DAC so right now I'm a happy bunny!
In the future I may also try a Bel Canto DAC 2 as I have heard good reports. these are difficult to find because Bel Canto have discontinued as they are bringing out a considerably more expensive DAC 3 (may have alienated a market sector here, I fear!)
