I'll second the room correcton suggestion.  The Behringer unit is
excellent and I know a few extremely well-heeled audiophiles who use
it.  I had one, but I prefer analog controls and instead went with a
Rane DEQ60L.

If you put some time into taking careful measurements from your
listening position and then play with equalization a bit, you'll find
that the changes you make will, in general, have a far greater impact
than any change in electronics.  Out of whack sound is still out of
whack sound, no matter how transparent and excellent the electronics;
get it within reason and you'll be happy.

Of course, these is the TacT solution -- it's on the expensive side and
there are those who swear by it and those who find it somewhat
problematic. Z-Systems makes great stuff, too.  Just a thought.
