I just got the new issue of Stereophile. The SB3 got a very good review - it was more of a followup than a full review, but there was a full set of test measurements.
JA was impressed. The SB3 is now his main source component. He still uses a multi-megabuck disc player for really critical listening, but says the difference between that and the SB3 is very minor, and often hard to distinguish. He thought the analog outputs were quite listenable, though not as good as running a digital cable to a good DAC. JA limited the review to basically a discussion of sound quality; he didn't really touch on the life-changing aspects of having your whole collection on tap, or any of the other awesome features of the SB3. JA did mention that he used the stock SB3 with the switching power supply, and that there are a couple of companies making a good living selling upgraded SBs. I'm eager to see the Transporter put through its paces by some well-respected review teams. Hopefully Stereophile will provide a review in the next 6 months or so. -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26306 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
