It is my impression that the SB3 is already a high-end transport. While Patrick Dixon's measurements clearly show improvements, I would think that the difference would not matter on a DAC that is reasonably immune to transfer jitter. I'd be curious to know if anyone has compared such a mod versus unmodded with different DACs.
