My system sounded like crap this morning.
After a little while I started to hear short drop-outs which gave the
impression of rythm changes in the music. In addition my other WLAN
stuff had problems communicating.

The problem was fixed by power-cycling the SB. It seems the SB had gone
balistic, resending or re-requesting data from the network at a rate
that messed things up. I can't be sure, but that is the most likely
explanation in my view.

Note that the SB sounded very bad even before I could hear obvious
drop-outs, so it seems some excessive activity in the SB can degrade
the sound.

I have the SB hooked up to a TacT DAC/Room correction unit (RCS 2.2x).
