Have you tried listening to the SB's analog outputs, to see if the problem is present using the SB's builtin DAC instead of the one in your receiver? If you still hear this, I'd suspect something server-side (or even having to do with your rips). If the problem goes away, suspect something to do with your receiver's initial digital lock, and how the SB is interacting with it.
