You're right in that DVD-A is digital, but that's just about it.

DVD-A can only be proper ripped by using WinDVD of certain versions
(6.x - 7.x, from that DVD-Audio support was implemented to when it was
removed due to the ripping). Then a few small programs are needed that
patch WinDVD and redirect the output to a file and decode that file to
WAV.

I don't know where those programs can be found, they were removed from
the public places on the Internet due to the legal issues.
