Yep. > As I only have digital inputs on my amplifier am I wasting money on the > DAC in the Transporter ? It depends on how good your system is and how budget-sensitive you are. The Transporter not only has a great DAC, it also has lower-jitter and lower-noise digital outpute. To my ears, it sounds better as a purely digital source than the SB3. It's up to you whether that's worth the money. > Can it be used in conjunction with NAS storage without the need for a > PCV to be on ? Yes. Definitely, if you use an Infrant NAS -- they provide SlimServer software which runs on the NAS. Not sure if they're up to the 6.5 family required by the Transporter, but if not, I assume it'll happen reasonably soon. > Is the Infrant HAS they reccomend noisy? Yes. > Would users site it close to > the Transporter ? No. But that's one of the fundamental advantages of the Slim architecture -- you put all the noisy computer equipment in a different room, where you don't have to listen to it. _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
