If you get a Transporter, again, you don't need a preamp. For small, pretty, and incredible performance, look at a Nuforce 9.02 or a Bel Canto s300 or even Ref 1000 mono blocs (expensive). If you like a purposefully warmed sound and have very neutral speakers, look at Rowland.
The Nuforces were The Absolute Sound's amp of the year. I use them and am very satisfied.
