Bailx, I am someone who has replaced a SB3 feeding the digital out to a Musical Fidelity X-DACv3 and outboard X-PSUv3 power supply with a Transformer using analog outs. I can say that to my ears the improvement is very significant. There is just more "there" there. I would not go back and am about to eBay my MF DAC+PSU.
