The TacT RCS 2.2X uses the same AD1896, and the TacT users can tell you
that the RCS is sensitive to changes in cables and digital sources -
otherwise the SB3 would be good enough! 

My definition of a "properly designed DAC" is that it sounds the same
regardless of what you hook up to the inputs. The RCS doesn't pass this
test (of course, it's not a DAC either - it's a digital preamp/room
correction device.)
