Not sure I can help with request 2, though there might be something
worth exploring by configuring the Now Playing and Screensaver configs
differently.
BTW - if you use erland's new CustomScan plugin you can get it to read
any tag you like and get it presented for use by MusicInfoScr, this is
a great advance... I just did this for PERFORMER which isn't recognised
by SS yet (though it should be).
Request 1 I can definitely do - I did this today! You need to create a
.map file (fred.map, say) in the IR directory. I mapped the Favorites
button as I don't use it for anything else but you can pick your own.
The file needs to contain:

favorites.single = visual_toggle
--------------------
You then enable the use of this file in Player Settings - Remote
Note that your custom file only needs to contain variations from the
default, you don't need to repeat the whole thing.
