I have heard alot of digital amps first hand. Here's my 2 cents. The original BC eVo 200.2 were very clear, but a little too laod back on the top end. They had power but ther weren't as authoratative on the bottom end. The new ref. amps are literally ICE modules in a box. The module is good, and I'm told solves some of the problems with their previous technology, but at the expense of the clarity they use to have. PS Audio HCA-2 Very neutral, with better bass then the previous BC designs, but a little less "life" to the sound. I would way they error on the analytical side. Haven't tried their new stuff, but I don't know too many people that are raving over it. TaCT - I really want to try this. Hypex UcD 400 - This is by far my favorite. These are sold comercially as CIA Audio model 200 amps, but with a much lesser power supply then I used on my monoblocks. They are neutral, but with a little more life then PS Audio, and the only thing they lack in is a pronounced bass. It's tight but not as strong. It has the clarity of the Bel Canto eVo Newforce Reference - This is my least fav. They won amp of the year and then 2 issues later the same reviewers were badmouthing the product. When I heard I tend to think it was vastly overhyped. It's sound is kind of lifeless, and lacks authority and speed of any kind. Definitely not my kind of amp.
hope this helps. -- mp006ltk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mp006ltk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29704 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
