As soon as the SlimServer 6.5 software is ported to the NAS devices that are supported today; you should be OK. As an alternative, you could build a small server based on a fanless Via Mini-ITX board and a micro-ATX case. It should be almost as quiet and you have space for more disks. The OS should be linux (of course ;) ). I am using CentOS with great success.
