The SB takes at least a few watts of power to operate. 4 AA batteries
would last about 10 minutes (if that!). If you want battery power you
should be thinking in terms of rechargeables like car or motorcycle
batteries. They will power the SB for several hours on a charge.

You can put a silicon diode in series with a 6V battery to drop the
voltage to about 5V if you are worried about over-volting the SB.

If you use a 12V battery you can build and voltage regulator that will
supply 5V. It will be very inefficient, but this is audio- who cares?

If you're asking questions like this, you are clearly not experienced
with electronics. I think it would be wise to do your experimenting
and learning with things that are much less expensive than an SB and
your speakers. If you make a mistake and burn up a light bulb or LED
it won't cost much. If you make a mistake and burn up your SB and
maybe do something that generates sufficient power you may also cook
your speakers at the same time. That would be an expensive lesson.
