I agree completely with your statements, Greg. Which is why I am trying to locate a source for an inexpensive, linear, plug-and-play power supply. I will approach the comparison between linear vs. stock with an open mind but I do feel that the default position has to be that there is no difference. This can, of course, be proven wrong, hence the need to try it out.
