dBpowerAMP Music Converter at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ is very
powerful and easy-to-use. It supports Windows Explorer integration
plus a very nice stand-alone GUI. If you go that route, I wrote a
utility to automatically reconcile the contents of a FLAC directory
tree against an MP3 directory tree, transcoding any missing FLACs to
MP3s. It can be downloaded from
http://www.innovative-dsp.com/ftp/Work/Reconcile.zip.

Another useful utility is Super Flexible File Synchronizer available
from http://www.superflexible.com/. This utility can be used to backup
your music folder to another drive on your network on a timed schedule.
It can be configured to shell to Reconcile.exe (above) to transcode any
new FLACs to MP3s, backup all files, then invoke a SlimServer database
rescan on a programmed schedule, so that your music is always
up-to-date and safe.
