Libel has a more somewhat more specific meaning than slander and is
usually considered in terms of defamation and legal action.  There is
indeed liberl on this forum and I have seen one or two examples that
could land someone a criminal, if not civil, complaint.  Slander is
more of an umbrella phrase that captures  libel as well as general
defamation.

Sorry, I don't know what you do for a living, but I do law (for the
government), and I tend to be picky about words.
