I also have the SB3/Ack! dAck! 2.0 (with ultra-resolution capacitors) and am really happy with it. Like sonofcolin, I am using a Bolder-modified Elpac PSU. I'm using two isolation transformers and like the sound best when the Elpac is well-isolated as compared to plugged into the wall, so I think it benefits from clean power.
As far as battery power, on the one hand it can be a bit of a drawback, because you have to remember to shut it off, and also not to listen more than the recommended limit. I did require a new battery before its time because I left it on overnight once and also the plug had fallen out of the back and I allowed it to be drained because I didn't know it wasn't charging. This was simply a monetary issue. And I like the sound so much that I don't mind this part.
