I'm seeking your advice: Should I connect my SB3 directly to a Cyrus SmartPower Power amp or will my ears bleed in a cacophony of corrupted aural signals as I dodge the exploding speakers and amp?
According to the specifications of the Cyrus SmartPower Power Amp: Input Impedance = 20Kohm S/N Ratio = 112dBA (ref 60W) Sensitivity = 413mV (for 60W into 8ohms) So would it match the SB3's analogue outputs? If I do this I can avoid having to use a Cyrus Quattro CD/FM/Pre-Amp in the signal chain (ie SB3 -> Quattro -> SmartPower -> Speakers). Theoretical benefits appear to be a) One less box to muck up the signal b) A bit less clutter c) The opportunity to explore the "The best preamp possible is no preamp at all" theory... Any recommendations on test tracks where people have heard the difference of PreAmp versus No PreAmp would be gratefully received!
