What are some working numbers here?  For example, many amplifiers --
most? -- have 10-20kOhms of input impedance.  Some switching amplifiers
are higher, and some other amps are higher yet (I think Cary's solid
state amp is around 100 kOhms, but don't quote me on that).

So, is 20kOhm enough not to require a buffer?
