I agree a BER of 1% is very large... that's why I was so blown away.
But I think I misspoke here. Guess I should have looked more closely
before posting...

I am looking at the value called "Track Quality" of EAC. 

I frequently got a "Track Quality" of 99.5% to mostly 99.9% on about
1-2 tracks per CD about 60% of the time. If I eyeball it for a
histogram I guess the major modes were at 100% and 99.9%.

I assumed it meant something like bit error rate.... but its not quite.

So, this value is not BER. It is a number related to excess reads,
which still does tell you something about error rate. I can't translate
it into a meaningful number though because there is no idea of how many
errors per sector I hit and EAC does multiple re-reads for every error
incident.

What's an order of magnitude on a forum posting anyway... Sorry for the
confusion.

Guess its time to check out AccurateRip.
