I think the AppleTV has quite a bit of potential. The price here in the UK is around the same as a wireless Squeezebox 3, which in my view makes it pretty good value as it can do lots of other things too. It's not a straight replacement, but (as someone said earlier in the thread) it will have a simplicity of design compared to the Squeezebox.
I think the interface via the minimalist Apple remote will be very good. I have a 24" iMac and Front Row works nicely as a media player of my iTunes library.
