The EAC ripping window has a box full of red squares that count off
re-reads.  When it performs a re-read, it lights up one of the squares.
When it progresses on to the next track, the lit squares go dim but not
off so you can check at the end of the rip the maximum number of
re-reads it needed to perform.  It also records this as "track
quality".

On undamaged CDs, nearly all of the time, the entire disc is read
without one of the squares being lit.

Certainly on damaged CDs you will get some re-reads.
