I'm searching for a pair of Active speakers for my bedroom. These look interesting:

I note that AudioEngine5 speakers have a sub-woofer output option but no branded sub-woofer on the market. I've been hearing raves about the AudioEngine5 and was wondering if anyone one had any thoughts regarding a bedroom set up? If the NHT speakers are "near field" are they going to sound bad across a small bedroom? Frankly I do most of my listening in this bedroom in front of a computer. So, maybe I should just do the "near field" (speakers right in front of me) thing and be done with it.
