Thanks for the replies guys, however I did find the cause of the problem. A while ago I used a pulse trafo instead of 2 caps for the incoming spdif signal on the external DAC thinking this was the better solution. First thing I tried today was removing the trafo and restoring the old situation with the caps. And guess what, its working now. Guess it (pulse trafo) was not such a good solution at all :P
