Corporate integration is massively time consuming, especially to the
original owners that are doing everything they can to ensure the new
corporate culture is not killing off the new acquistion, for -all
values of corporate culture- (frequently quite accidently). I
personally call this the corporate immune response, and it is well
documented that acquisitions frequently activate it. Successful
integration requires massive management time and you do nothing else in
the meantime. The objective is to still have a functioning business unit
once the integration is done.

Trust me on this one: been there, done that and have many tee shirts.
