I reported in another thread a high pitched tone, which others have also heard in this thread and others.
As I run all my systems without preamps, I had on order a pair of -20dB fixed attenuators to match line levels and push my digital volume control up to the top end for my Rotel power amp system where I was experiencing the tone. The attenuator nicely stomps on the noise floor - my speakers are very quiet now with amp on and no music playing. And, with my ear *right against* the tweeter the tone is barely discernable at the second brightest setting (where it previously was very noticeable at that setting).
