I think that some of the braided Cat5 recipies may have pretty high capacitance. This could cause amplifier oscillation as mentioned below. The Jon Risch recipies offer some low capacitance designes (cross connected, etc.). I ended up using some SCSI ribbon cable:
http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/flatter_e.html I did not alternate the wires, I used two separate runs for positive and negative respectively. Sounded better than the Ubyte recipe it replaced.
