On page 2 in the block diagram, the two blocks (one for each channel) that says "8X interpolator" is the oversampling FIR filter that does the brick wall filtering in the digital domain. The spec also says "128X oversampling" which probably has something to do with the Sigma-Delta operation of the "Modulators" (in the diagram). BTW, the "Modulators" and following stages are probably what we used to refer to as the "DAC". But nowdays it is all in one chip. P.S: I notice that the AK4396 also does DSD (SACD)! Wouldn't it be nice if the Transporter supported DSD!? A slight bandwidth problem perhaps in getting the bits there though.
