Well, guess the LAT cord is not shielded then...., or at least, not
shielded in the plugs...
There are lots of shielded power cables out there, one of the best is
normal in-house power cabling, 2 x 2,5 square mm solid core with a
shield, exactly the same you have going from the fuse box to your
outlet. (Dont know if you have 1,5 or 2,5 square mm cable)
I did an unformalt test after a disappointment with an Isotek power
cord. I bought it for my Stax headphone amp after reading on the
head-fi forum it should benefit from a new power cord.
Couldnt hear a difference with the Isotek, tried it then on the dvd
player and amp, same thing.
After posting a comment on another forum a guy told me to try simple
installation wire or whatever its called.
I bought some, costed next to nothing, a couple of plugs also went in
the bag.
Home I made a cord about 3 feet, 1 meter long. Tried it on the dvd
player and felt silly, didnt expect to hear a difference whatsoever,
but I couldnt believe it, it actually sounded better, more dynamic,
cleaner, better focus on the voice, more ambience.
I switched back to the one I normally used, and yes, I heard the
difference.
Then I tried it on the amplifier, and the Stax, and I couldnt hear any
difference. So, the dvd player benefitted from it, the rest not. I am
not going to try and explain why I got these results, its just funny,
and I saved a lot of money on power cables. I still use the Isotek on
the Stax though, didnt sell it.
I must say that in my country its not legal to use this kind of cable
as a power cord, so you experiment at your own risk. The cable is very
stiff....
