Big lesson: dont use softsqueeze to test. Its not the same as SB3 or Tp. The procedure I outlined above definately results in workable 24b files. I need to further investigate using upsampled 96K or downsampled 44K.
The test files all successully play on both the Tp and the SB3. 'This message' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=159621&postcount=19) documents that the SB3 downsamples 88 & 96 to 44 & 48 respectively, that is why the 96K test file plays on the SB3. It appears that WAVEX files do NOT play. And neither to WMA of course.
