Are you using ReplayGain? If so, Internet radio will almost always be louder - contemporary music will be up to 10 dB louder as a result of the loudness wars.
You may want to disable ReplayGain playback of SlimServer sources (SlimServer Player Settings - Audio - Volume Adjustment/Replay Gain).
