Also my experience! - I actually prefer the SB3 over a CD12, a super expensive dCS rig, 2 different top end naims and an esoteric transport feeding a Chord DAC64. I was able to spend many hours listening to these over several months and came to the conclusion that I could not honestly justify buying any of them (although I actually owned the CD 12 at the time) since the SB3 gave me what I wanted sonically. Now admittedly I'm not using the analogue output of the SB3 so can't commment on that. But I would say that as a SPDIF digital transport IMHO it's as good as it gets. Period. (I should point out that I also use the Altmann gear before my DAC, after my SB3/TACT 2.2x so this is a somewhat unusual setup - but boy does it sound good.
