While I guess the Quads are very classical-biased, I would generally think the Tannoys head that way too - they certainly don't have the amazing immediacy of many other horn speakers, which can be great for non-classical. I personally found them rather subdued and undemonstrative (which I like - my Living Voices and Harbeths could both be described thus), but they also lacked the insight, timing and transparency that I value. I would much rather have my foot-high sub-$2k Harbeths from my kitchen system, to be honest, but I reiterate that the Westminsters I heard were brand new, so break-in might be an issue. A further issue would be the wife's response, if I bought a pair for my small London kitchen... :) Adam -- adamslim SB3 into Derek Shek d2, Shanling CDT-100, Rotel RT-990BX, Esoteric Audio Research 859, Living Voice Auditorium IIs, Nordost and Anti-cables http://www.last.fm/user/AdamSlim/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33125 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
