Sean, I think this because I've built quite a few analog stages for different DACs that I own. I've found that I like the sound best when I use an instrumentation amp configuration which allows one to take the 1/2Vcc voltages levels at the + and - outputs of the DAC and convert them to single ended levels with no offset without the use of any caps. Alternatively one can use a transformer to do the balanced to single ended conversion. I haven't done this on the Transporter (yet) but in other DACs I've found either approach to be better by a significant amount than what is used in the Transporter.
