I have just been visiting Linn records web site and have noticed you can now download tracks from most of their current catalogue of Classical and Jazz recordings. They are offering 3 types of download: MP3, CD Quality (lossless WMA) and Studio Master (lossless WMA at various high bit rates. They say the quality is identical to that of an SACD!!!). There is no DRM restrictions on any of their downloads. Pricing example, I downloaded the Studio Master version of Take Out Some Insurance by Barb Jungr from the album Walking In The Sun, last night. This cost me £1.80. To download the same track in CD Quality costs £0.89 and the MP3 costs £0.79. Strangly when I look at the track details in Tag&Rename it shows the bit rate as 1434kbps VBR, but if I look at the track details in Slimserver the bit rate is 385kbps VBR. It is good to find a legal download site that is easy to use.
