thank all of you for your comments. As soon as I hit the <submit> button, I realized that it was silly to ask a question without searching the forum first, but you know, it was early in the morning and the coffee had not turned me on yet.
I have a rather old system (20 yrs?), a Musical Fidelity Dr. Thomas mos-fet power amp, Musical Fidelity Preamp2, which has only phono/cd/aux connections, no remote, no tone controls, an Arcam alpha cd player, Infinity 7K speakers. Now my SB3 is my main source, playing ripped CDs and internet radio.
