The Audioengines come with cables that, along with your stock SB cables, will get you started. I wouldn't drop a wad on cables until I heard the stock setup first. As for a sub, try the speakers without one first. In a smaller room, unless you really want to vibrate the walls, I think you may be able to do without a sub. Speaker placement is critical.
