There are powered monitors made for every price point. Like any speaker, they're all different. If you're in or near a large city you might be able to find a pro audio shop that has a variety. If possible find Genelecs' line of powered monitors, the JBL LSR series, and Blue Sky. You may be surprised at what you hear.
