I have the Sennheiser 250 noise "canceling" (I'd rather call it
reducing) and agree the sound quality is poor, in fact I have never
taken them on a long flight again because they gave me a headache.

I utterly agree with the little in-ear Shure design - sounds awesome,
and by the way it reduces noise better than most over the ear designs.

If you want an active design, effective noise reduction and don't mind
the bulk of an over-the-ear design, I can recommend the Panasonic
RP-HC300. I use them at work when I don't want to be disturbed, and
they do sound great. basically the give the Bose's a run for their
money at 1/3 of the price.

And my reference is the Grado RS1 - love it.
