I felt that the bass from that soundcard was better than the bass from
the Squeezebox, it was more clean, more tight, got more weight and went
down lower, in a word it was less "muddy". I have Onken bass speakers
which can show the difference. It's not only a matter of taste and the
Squeezebox is not the ultimate device, that's the reason why they made
the Transporter. It's not the PC as a source that is better than the
Squeezebox, the PC is the source of both the Squeezebox and the
soundcard, and i can assure you that there are soundcards that are
better than the Squeezebox, i can't see why you said that the approach
was incorrect. Pros have been using PCs for many years, even John
Atkinson of Stereophile.
As for the EMI/RFI, it's the same song again and again by people who
are sure, who suppose, but have not tested. A computer is bad, it's a
prerequisite for any audiophile who wants to be taken seriously.
I have no agenda, i bought a squeezebox an love it, i bought a pro
soundcard (more expensive)and find it slightly better , and i'm using
both.
