For me, the biggest threat that the decline of the CD brings is that once online distribution becomes the norm, it's highly likely that the vast majority of music simply won't be available in a lossless format. Let's face it, the need for lossless quality is only felt by a small niche of music buyers. I fear that the big labels just won't bother to cater for us. So although I no longer actually play physical CDs, they remain my source format of choice, and I for one will lament their demise when the time comes. -- cliveb Performers -> dozens of mixers and effects -> clipped/hypercompressed mastering -> you think a few extra ps of jitter matters? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33813 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
