I started looking around my "junk drawer" at the various power supplies
I had, thinking I may luck out with a PS for my SB3. To my surprise I
found a AD-5800RDU power supply from one of my old ethernet hubs. I
looked it up online and it turns out to be a linear, regulated, 5v
power supply rated at 800 mA instead of 1000 mA.

As luck would have it, the connector on this thing is a bit larger than
the stock SB3 power supply, but STILL FITS perfectly. And, of course the
hot connector is the center connector.

I decided since its only 200 mA less than optimal I'd give it a try and
so, I am doing so as we "speak". It seems to be working fine.

Anyone care to comment on 800 mA instead of 1000 mA? Also, I used a
digital volt meter on this unit and it is 4.9999 vdc and the stock unit
is 5.15 vdc.

It's working fine, but what, if any, could be the downsides?

PS. Do I hear any improvement? Not that I can be sure of. It's more
like "any change must be better" kind of thing right now.
