The only thing that I can see affecting the resistance of the bridges
used by many speakers is they tend to be steel and chrome plated to
look nice.  I suppose it's worth testing the factory bridge with an Ohm
meter.  It even might be worth testing with the bridge clip in place. 
(terminal input to terminal input so you get the whole series
resistance)
